What fragrance do you wear?
What fragrance do you wear, the world’s or God’s?
What fragrance do you wear, the world’s or God’s, pleasure or purpose?
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.
For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life.
And who is equal to such a task? (2 Corinthians 2:14-16)
“Who is equal to such a task?” The answer, no one. The fragrance of Jesus cannot be bought in any store. The smell cannot be hidden and is as repugnant as the smell of death or pleasing as the smell of life itself. The only way to be in the middle is to be lukewarm about letting God spray a little Jesus on ya.
The fragrance of God is placed upon a child of God whether they like it or not. Meaning, if one is blessed with the fragrance of heaven some will smell life while others will swear it is death. A disciple following Jesus can walk into a room, and immediately, without having done anything good or bad, there will be multiple reactions to the smell. Indifference as some people have no sense of smell, death because they smell the judgment upon their sinful lives, or, the fragrance of life hidden in Jesus. Don’t believe me – invite me to your next social gathering, or better yet, spray on a little more Jesus – you will find out.
Once a fragrance is applied the smell cannot be controlled. If a person can control the acceptance or persecution they are not wearing God’s fragrance of Life in Jesus.
This is not Cultural Christianity, where conservative views are opposed to other’s ideology.
