(mirror.co.uk)—Much of the UK woke up to heavy snowfall this morning and have spent the day outside enjoying snowmen, snowballs and good old-fashioned snow angels.

But snow also brings with it danger – from an increased risk of road accidents to people slipping on ice and hurting themselves.

What you must also be aware of, before you go outside and shovel snow off your driveway to stop you from falling over, is that this can be incredibly dangerous too.

Researchers in the US conducted a study into data from 1990 to 2006 and found 1,647 fatalities associated with shovelling snow.

These were cardiac-related injuries.
