Beauty they say is in the eye of the beholder. What then, when God looks, does He see in a woman of worth?
Do God and his godly men ridicule a woman for not wearing sunscreen – Travel Size DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Crème Broad Spectrum SPF 15 or not?
Dark am I, yet lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, dark like the tents of Kedar, like the tent curtains of Solomon. Do not stare at me because I am dark, because I am darkened by the sun. My mother’s sons were angry with me and made me take care of the vineyards; my own vineyard I have neglected. (Song of Solomon 1:5-6)
There are many a shallow man who gazes upon a rich woman and calls such “beauty.”
But God, and His saints, His godly men, truly behold beauty from a position of truth – sexism or not.
Now, now ladies, a little make-up, and fixing-up do go a long way in making one a lady but such does not sway a godly man’s eyesight.
While a woman’s beauty should not come from outward decorations upon the body such is not an excuse to be a slob or a feminist. Rather, adorn oneself with just enough make-up that no one notices the painting for flattery. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment but that doesn’t mean a face should not be toned. Rather, it should have the subtly of not being noticed what was done. Such is a reflection of God’s powerful understatements.
What should stand out, speak loudly, declare itself with trumpets is a woman of a gentle and quiet spirit. Now there is value beyond billions of dollars.
Believe me, such a woman will be applauded by man and is “of great worth in God’s sight.”
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. (1 Peter 3:3-4)
What shall we conclude?
A woman valued by today’s stock market to the tune of $1.85 billion or a woman of a gentle and quiet spirit?
The quality of a man provides the answer.
