Teen infected with hookworms could ‘feel the worms moving in his body,’ mom says
A 17-year-old Memphis teen is still suffering from painful side effects more than a month after he contracted a parasitic worm infection while on a mission trip in Florida.
In a series of graphic photos posted on Friday, Dumas detailed her son’s injuries and said that after four trips to the pediatrician and an appointment with a dermatologist, he has been prescribed several medicines and a steroid but the pain persists. He still can’t wear shoes and has to soak the afflicted areas in bleach water.
“He is in pain and this is AWFUL,” Dumas posted, in part, on July 20. “Never be buried in sand or allow your children to be either! I am only showing a few pictures because it is so disturbing. Please, please pray for him to heal.

While probably not the same worm the lesson is grumbling while carrying your cross is a painful sin.
Too be sure the cross has it’s painful side and few will follow Jesus while picking up the cross God has designed for them – to grumble against the Lord has a price attatched to such sinning.
The reason being that no matter how painful the cross might be at the moment there is always the blessed resurrection at the end. But you gotta see it by faith.
They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”
Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.”
So Moses prayed for the people.
The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived. (Numbers 21:4-9)
[ Warning ]
And do not grumble, as some of them did–and were killed by the destroying angel. These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. (1 Corinthians 10:10-11)
