“A student wept after claiming her £500 Christian Louboutin heels were ruined on a shopping centre escalator.
Karolina Swiercz, who works part-time at a casino, was invited to a black tie event in The Cornerhouse, a leisure complex in Nottingham.
For the occasion decided to wear her new designer high heels, which she treated herself to while visiting Paris last month for €540 (£480).
She told Nottinghamshire Live: “I had been saving up for them since the beginning of the year, they cost me one month’s salary and so they meant a lot to me.
“I went to a black tie event to watch the first screening of the new Robin Hood film and as it was black tie I dressed up.
“I left at around 9.30pm, I wasn’t drunk and I wasn’t messing around, me and my friend decided to get the escalator as the lift was right at the bottom.
